SOLANKE FIRES YOUNG LIONS INTO LAST FOUR
DOMINIC SOLANKE fired England into their first FIFA Under 20 World Cup semi-final since 1993 as they defeated Mexico 1-0 despite Josh Onomah’s controversial red card. The 19-year-old forward (right), who recently moved from Chelsea to Liverpool, showed superb composure to tuck home the winner two minutes into the second half and set up a clash with Italy on Thursday. But the Young Lions faced a tense finale in South Korea when Spurs midfielder Onomah was shown a second yellow card for accidentally treading on the boot of a Mexico player — a decision manager Paul Simpson labelled ‘ridiculous’.
