To Mark today’s anniversar­y of d-day and the upcoming release of the film Churchill (in cinemas June 16), the Mail has teamed up with Lionsgate Films to offer readers this keepsake tea towel featuring Sir Winston Churchill. Exclusivel­y designed for the Mail, it is made of 100 per cent cotton and measures 44cm x 65cm. The film follows Britain’s leader in the days before the d-day landings in June 1944. Fearful of repeating his mistakes from World War I on the beaches of Gallipoli, exhausted by years of war, plagued by depression and obsessed with fulfilling historical greatness, Churchill is also faced with criticism from U.S. General Eisenhower and Field Marshal Montgomery. only the unflinchin­g support of Clementine, his unflappabl­e wife, can halt the Prime Minister’s physical and mental collapse. Churchill is directed by Jonathan Teplitzky (The railway Man), and the cast is led by Brian Cox (The Bourne Supremacy) as Winston Churchill, Miranda richardson (Harry Potter) as the Prime Minister’s beloved wife and confidante Clemmie, and John Slattery (Mad Men) as General Eisenhower, Supreme Commander of the allied d-day operations.
