FRIENDS made desperate Facebook appeals for Mariem Elgwahry, 27 (pictured) a marketing manager who lived with her mother Suhar on the 19th floor of the block.

They said they had been unable to contact either woman since the early hours of yesterday.

And there was an appeal for information on Italian couple Gloria Trevisan and Marco Gottardi, who moved into a 23rd-floor flat three months ago. Cousin Pamela Pizziolo said: ‘I don’t have any news from them since last night and their mobile phones are off. I’m praying God they make it out safely.’

A mother of two is feared to have shared her last terrifying moments in a Facebook video as she seemed to be stuck at the top of the tower.

Rania Ibrham, 30, has not been heard from since uploading the video in the small hours. She can be seen seeking help in a smoke-filled corridor before returning to her flat and looking down from her balcony. She can also be heard praying.
