Smoke’s in my house ... people are jumping out of the windows

-

A STUDENT who dramatically live-tweeted how she feared she was trapped in the inferno fears her father may be among the scores of victims.

Rebecca Ross, 22, (above) said she was ‘distraught’ last night after being unable to contact 63year- old Steve Power ( above right). Nothing has been heard from him since she fled their twobedroom flat on the 14th floor among terrified neighbours.

Writing online, Miss Ross, who has been studying at the University of Greenwich, said she is desperate for information.

‘Still no news about my dad,’ she wrote. ‘If anyone sees or hears anything, please get in touch with me ASAP. I’m distraught right now.’ Miss Ross took to Twitter as the fire raged, telling her 1,776 followers: ‘I’m stuck in this block!!! Can’t leave my house because I’ll die from the smoke.’

She then added: ‘Guys I don’t know what to do. Panicking because people are jumping out the window and I can’t leave my house at all. The whole landing is covered in smoke. I won’t make it.’ However, two hours later her ordeal was over. Posting a picture from a nearby street, she said: ‘I’m safe guys, please don’t worry.’

After realising her tweets had reached a huge international audience, Miss Ross said she genuinely believed she was going to die. It was not clear how she escaped.
