Baby on board

-

I AM not surprised that unborn babies in the womb recognise the shape of a face and respond to red light shone onto the mother’s bump (Mail).

As a pregnant, working teenager, I was blessed with a midwife ahead of her time. She believed a developing foetus’s well- being could be influenced by the environment outside the womb. She warned me about

pollution, noise and overbright lighting, which she considered could be harmful or would distress the baby. Her reasoned argument lured me out of my favourite jeans and into maternity clothes to give my baby more protection against the negative effects of modern living.

So when I see pictures of pregnant celebrities poured into skimpy designer frocks, I feel for their unborn babies.
