Bathing can help you limber up for activity
TAKING a bath or shower can be a special challenge when you feel sore and stiff, especially early in the morning when those with arthritis tend to have more pain. Yet warm water can certainly be therapeutic. Heat enhances circulation, delivering nutrients to joints and muscles. It’s good for getting your body limber and ready for exercise and activity. Soaking in a warm whirlpool can be particularly relaxing, easing pain and stiffness. A walk-in bath with a factory fitted hydrotherapy system allows you to relax amid warm bubbles in water that’s twice as deep as in traditional models, while sitting in a comfortable and safe position. The seat makes it easier to stand up and exit the bath, too, with as little as a 4in step. Alternatively, an easy access shower also comes with seating and safety features to add security and confidence. As a general rule, don’t be tempted to rely on holding onto taps or soap dishes when getting in and out of the bath or shower. A stylish chrome grab rail that is firmly secured to the wall is far more effective. With a little help in this way, daily tasks are easier and life can become more comfortable and enjoyable, despite arthritic pain.
