THE third episode of this acclaimed documentary series analyses the links between the Imperial Trust’s hospitals and their social care partners in the wider community. Every day, St Mary’s Hospital in West London must look after people who don’t need any medical treatment, but are stuck on a ward waiting for a package of care to be arranged for them either in the community or at a specialist psychiatric unit. ‘We’re just seeing more people in worse crises,’ says consultant geriatrician Colin Mitchell (pictured).
