Du Plessis out of Test
BOTH England and South Africa will be under new management this week with the news that Faf du Plessis will miss Thursday’s first Test at Lord’s. The South Africa captain will stay at home after the ‘difficult’ birth of his first child, with Dean Elgar stepping up to lead his country for the first time. Elgar will now join Joe Root in making his Test captaincy debut when a depleted South Africa take on England in the first of four Tests. South Africa are already without AB de Villiers, who has put limited-overs cricket ahead of Tests, and the injured Dale Steyn. Du Plessis plans to return later this week with a view to playing in the second Test at Trent Bridge on July 14.
