Advantage Daddy!

Father grounds UK hopeful, 18, after night out with tennis bad boy

YOU’ve been court! The furious father of a young British tennis hopeful has grounded her after she partied with Wimbledon dropout Nick Kyrgios until 3am – and threatened to ‘knock him out’.

Bad boy Kyrgios was among the players to controversially retire injured in the first round after getting their hands on the £35,000 appearance money.

But he was later spotted at a London nightclub looking worse for wear with 18year- old British juniors player Chelsea Samways. Wearing a Calvin Klein bra top and black jeans, Miss Samways was seen linking arms with Kyrgios, 22.

Later, she held her hand to his chest as he leant against a wall.

Other photos show her in a taxi with the Australian player and fellow rising star Monique Belovukovic, before the trio dis- appeared into what appeared to be a garden of a home. Yesterday plumbing firm boss Lawrence Samways, 51, said his daughter – whose mother is a doctor – was ‘grounded’ after she ‘sneaked out’.

Speaking at the family’s three-bed home in south-west London, he said: ‘My daughter is only 18 and a sweet girl.

‘I don’t like it. So I’ve taken her car away. She won’t be going out like that again.’

He added: ‘If Kyrgios was here now I’d knock him out. In fact I’d like to knock him out.’

Kyrgios pulled out of Wimbledon after just 65 minutes, blaming a hip injury.

He was one of seven men and one woman to drop out in the first round, prompting fears unfit players were turning up just to claim the generous first-round cash.

Wimbledon legend Roger Federer is among the players to suggest the rules should change to stop fans being shortchanged. Miss Samways, who has played tennis since she was four, was joined by Australian junior Miss Belovukovic, also 18, and both girls were spotted hugging and kissing Kyrgios. The photographs were taken outside the Cirque Nightclub in Soho after he pulled out of the tournament.

Kyrgios was thought to have been in a relationship with fellow Australian player Ajla Tomljanovic, who did not play at Wimbledon. The world number 20 has a reputation for arrogance and bad language, but has still pocketed more than £3.4million in tournament winnings.

In contrast, Miss Samways has won £600 during her fledgling career. She is due to take up a university tennis scholarship in Florida next month and her father wants nothing to get in her way.

Her father said: ‘Chelsea has been playing tennis since she was four-years-old. She is very committed. She’s done everything to get to the top of her sport – training, exercise, diet.

‘She’s just won a scholarship to a university in Florida to play tennis.

‘I don’t want any of this nonsense to get in the way.’
