Stephen who? The little-known names enjoying VERY big salaries
SOME entries in the list of top-paid stars came as a surprise – and several were far from household names.
Belfast-born radio and TV presenter Stephen Nolan receives up to £449,999 despite being relatively little known.
His work includes hosting a show on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings on Radio 5 Live and presenting programmes five days a week on Radio Ulster.
Yesterday he said: ‘It’s a pleasure for me to work at the BBC and being paid a lot of money to do it.’
Nolan receives additional money from the BBC for programmes commissioned from his independent production company, although he refused to say how much.
TV presenter Nick Knowles, who hosted the Saturday night National Lottery draw programme and home makeover show DIY SOS on the BBC, earns up to £349,999.
BBC veteran Moira Stuart, who reads the news on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show on Radio 2, is paid up to £199,999.
Radio 6 Music presenter Lauren Laverne, 39, earns up to £349,999. She has fronted Late Night Woman’s Hour on Radio 4.
It was also revealed that radio presenters Simon Mayo, Nick Grimshaw and Vanessa Feltz all earn up to £399,999.
