Emissions fix ‘could damage Mercedes cars’

-

HUNDREDS of thousands of UK Mercedes-Benz drivers have been urged not to rush to get them fixed amid fears their cars could be damaged.

The Daimler-owned luxury car giant has voluntarily recalled three million vehicles across Europe – including a million in Germany – amid fears over emissions levels.

It is being investigated by German authorities over concerns that it installed software in cars to cheat diesel emissions tests, which it denies.

Owners are offered a free software update aimed at cutting nitrogen oxide emissions.

But yesterday, What Car? magazine warned that updates can have damaging sideeffects. Drivers will be contacted in the coming weeks.
