Back in the USSR
I WOULD love to turn back the clock and send the ‘ Leftie hate trolls’
(Mail) to their paradise, the USSR. I lived in Moscow aged 17 and met Len Wincott, a leader of the 1931 Invergordon Mutiny, in Gorky Park.
He defected to the USSR in 1934. At first treated as a hero, he was later accused of being a spy and sent to the gulag.
I will always remember his sorrow and regret at not being able to return to Britain. VINCENT RUANE, reading, Berks.
