KNACKERED MOTHERS’ WINE CLUB
BARGAIN OF THE WEEK
Château de Berne Provence Rosé 2016, £8.39, Waitrose STILL not over pale pink Provence rosé yet? Me neither. This one, which comes in a square bottle, is crisp, dry, full of redcurrant flavours and seems far more expensive than it is.
WHITE WINE
Glorious & Gorgeous Grenache Blanc 2016, £7.99, Co-op MADE by one of South Africa’s biggest producers, this is peachy white wine. Seriously, it tastes of peaches, along with green apple and a whiff of honeysuckle.
FOOD PAIRING: Grilled salmon.
RED WINE
Majestic Loves Spanish Red 2016, £5.99 mix six price, Majestic FROM the Majestic Loves range, all for £5.99 each apart from a sparkling at £6.99, comes this brilliant Spanish red. It tastes a bit like a young Rioja, with juicy bramble fruit and a touch of warm spice.
FOOD PAIRING: Posh hot dogs.
SPARKLING WINE
Crémant de Bourgogne Blanc NV, £7.99, Lidl IF YOU see the name cremant on the label, it’s sparkling wine made in the same way as champagne. This one, from Burgundy, has similar crisp, toasty lemon flavours and is made from the same grape. Brilliant stuff.
FOOD PAIRING: Cheese straws.
The Knackered Mother’s Wine Club, by helen McGinn (Pan Macmillan, £7.99).
