SIR TITAN in the Qatar Handicap this afternoon. My work for ITV is my priority these days, but I still have my licence and ride out regularly in Newmarket. This season, I’ve been offered four rides and won on two of them. While I feel I am still riding well, I will keep taking a few mounts in races if trainers are happy to put me up. I’ve had a long associatio­n with Marcus, who has a great record at Goodwood. Sir Titan only has 8st 2lb to carry and I was booked at the start of the meeting. I saw Sir Titan win his last race at Windsor and, while the going was quick that day, his galloping action looked like he will have no problem on today’s softer ground. Marcus’s horse are brought along gradually so, having only raced four times, there should be more improvemen­t in him. OUTBACK TRAVELLER to win the Wokingham Stakes at Royal Ascot, a race he won in the 2016. He didn’t run badly, being beaten less than six lengths, but the ground was too quick for him. His Wokingham win came on good to soft ground. A proven performer in these competitiv­e handicaps, he is worth another chance having also come down a little in the handicap.
