Admit it, Mr Corbyn
ON the streets of Venezuela, motorbike thugs in police uniform are filmed savagely beating up unarmed demonstrators – scores of whom have been killed, with thousands more arbitrarily arrested.
Yet while the United Nations yesterday unequivocally blamed the violence on President Nicolas Maduro’s hard-Left government, Jeremy Corbyn still refuses to condemn a regime he has hailed as a model for a socialist Britain.
Is this because, as a senior member of Venezuela’s opposition claims, the Labour leader simply doesn’t understand what is happening in that once-prosperous land?
Or is it just that Mr Corbyn is too stubborn and bigoted to admit that there, as everywhere it has been tried, his brand of hard-Left socialism has produced nothing but poverty, starvation and tyranny?
