AUGUST 19, 1946 THE first black market food check on traffic entering a holiday resort was carried out yesterday. To get to Bridlington, motorists have to pass through isolated districts of the rich farming area of Yorkshire’s East and North Ridings. Baker, who has been married four times and says he came off heroin 29 times, starred in a 2013 documentary titled Beware Of Mr Baker, and broke the film-maker’s nose with a walking stick. JENNIE BOND, 67. The former BBC royal correspondent was given two pairs of tights by Princess Diana after she said: ‘Ma’am, your legs look amazing, what tights do you wear?’ After leaving the BBC, she was buried in a coffin full of rats on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity . . . COLLEEN MOORE (19021988). The U.S. silent movie star adopted a Dutch bob haircut in the Twenties (right) which was copied across the U.S. and beyond. Moore had a passion for dolls and spent more than £5 million in today’s money on a doll’s house with diamond chandeliers. GENE RODDENBERRY (1921-1991). The television producer who gave the world (and the universe) Star Trek in the Sixties. Some of his ashes were sent into space on the Shuttle in 1992, and some more went on a U.S. Pegasus rocket in 1997.
