Lobster-red unfortunat­es took to social media yesterday and shared the consequenc­es of venturing out unprotecte­d in the heatwave. One showed off her sore-looking behind and explained her pain via various hashtags such as #cantsitdow­n.

Another bemoaned her friends’ advice after they insisted it would be fine to nip out with no sunblock but she came home pink.

And one woman showed her red shoulders after a stint outside and said: ‘When you’re pale and sit in the English sun for 20 minutes.’
