TENNIS pundits described the match as a ‘thriller’. But Victoria Beckham and her teenage son Romeo looked far from enthralled as they watched Roger Federer battle his way through a first round tie at the US Open.

The Wimbledon champion, 36, beat 19year-old American Frances Tiafoe in a nail-biting five-set battle at Flushing Meadows, New York, on Tuesday.

But while others in the crowd were on the edge of their seats, Mrs Beckham, 43, and 14-year-old Romeo could not have looked more indifferent.

Despite appearances, Romeo – a keen tennis player – later posted a selfie of him- self with his mother on Instagram alongside the caption: ‘Fun night out with my mum.’ They also watched America’s Madison Keys beat Elise Mertens of Belgium.

One spectator who did actually look delighted to be at the tennis match was Sir Sean Connery.

The 87-year-old actor, who rarely appears in public, smiled and laughed after his presence was announced to the audience as the James Bond theme boomed around the stadium.
