Luton named as the worst UK airport by passengers
LUTON has retained its title as Britain’s worst airport.
It was given only one star in half of the ten categories in the study by consumer group Which? It earned a customer score of just 29 per cent, based on overall satisfaction and how likely passengers are to recommend it to a friend.
Some of the 435 airport users surveyed described it as ‘chaos’, ‘crowded’ and a ‘rip-off’.
The airport, which is undergoing a £110million redevelopment, has languished at the bottom of the Which? airport rankings for five years.
A Luton airport spokesman said: ‘We’re disappointed in these results as they don’t accurately reflect the experience of the majority of our passengers.
‘Which? polled just 435 of its subscribers who had travelled through London Luton between May 2016 and May 2017 – the most intensive phase of the airport’s redevelopment.’
Doncaster Sheffield earned the highest customer satisfaction score with 87 per cent. The other top airports were: Southend; Norwich; Southampton and Exeter. After Luton, the worst were: Stansted; Manchester and Aberdeen.
