KINDNESS BORN OUT OF TRAGEDY
GRIEVING mum Wendy Tarplee-Morris, 39, was inspired to set up The Little Princess Trust in memory of her daughter, Hannah, who died of kidney cancer aged five in 2005.
The charity provides wigs for children who have suffered hair loss through illness, and also contributed £1.2 million to cancer research last year.
Wendy and Hannah’s father, Simon, from Herefordshire, had to pay a company to make a tiny-sized wig for Hannah after she lost her own cherished blonde locks during chemotherapy. After Hannah died, they decided to found The Little Princess Trust to help other children.
Wendy ( pictured) says: ‘Real hair wigs can cost up to £1,000, yet they make such a difference during a horrible time.’
Much of the hair used to make the wigs is donated by young people who have ‘sponsored hair cuts’.
