‘Duvet day’ debacle
We aRe told that productivity is running far behind our competitors and seriously affecting the economy. I am a voluntary member of an organisation employing 200 people and am amazed that casual absence from work is accepted as a fact of life.
The term ‘ duvet day’ has entered the vocabulary as a reason not to turn up for work because of a hangover or plain laziness.
It appears to be considered almost as a right to have a few days off in addition to holiday entitlement.
I blame poor management for allowing this.
