Should Strictly feature same-sex couples?
THE Rev Richard Coles, a contestant on the new series of Strictly Come Dancing, has suggested that samesex partners should be an option (Mail). Citing the BBC, he said: ‘We’ve had a discussion about it. It’s just a matter of doing it.’ If the Corporation should be so absurdly PC and instigate the proposition to pander to a minority, it would sound the death knell for this TV programme.
MIKE PrENTIS, Nottingham. JUST pair up Susan Calman with the Rev Richard Coles, and the problem is solved! let’s all try to keep a sense of humour about this. Strictly is a family entertainment show, not a vehicle for sexual preferences. as Brucie would say: ‘Keep dancing!’
M. GASTON, Bishop’s Cleeve, Glos.
I HAVE no objection to gay, lesbian or transgender people, but please stop banging your drums. Strictly is a show for everyone, not a bandwagon for waving flags of equality or non-equality.
VAL O’MALLEY, Maidenhead, Berks gaY men dance with women on Strictly in series after series and there’s no fuss. a lesbian celebrity is paired with a male professional and there’s a hullabaloo.
CHrIS HOrSMAN, Corby, Northants.
MY WIFE and I have watched Strictly since it started. The day they have same-sex couples dancing together is the day we stop watching. I suspect many others will do the same.
D. AUSTIN, Camberley, Surrey. WHY are there calls for Strictly to have same-sex partnerships? it already has two female presenters and the judging panel is made up of two gay men and two women.
