United fear Pogba’s out for a month

- JACK GAUGHAN

PAUL POGBA had a scan on his hamstring injury at Manchester United’s training ground yesterday and the club fears he could miss the next four weeks. United have invested millions in medical equipment at their Carrington base to assess their players rather than using hospitals. Pogba headed straight for the tunnel after pulling up 19 minutes into Tuesday’s Champions League victory over Basle and later left on crutches. It is his second hamstring problem in six months, and Jose Mourinho fears he could miss Premier League games against Everton, Southampton and Crystal Palace, plus a Champions League trip to CSKA Moscow. United’s first game after October’s international break is at Liverpool in a month’s time. ‘Paul’s going to be a massive miss and hopefully we can get him back fit as soon as possible,’ said United striker Marcus Rashford. Pogba’s absence could open the door for Ander Herrera. Basle, meanwhile, have been hit by a UEFA charge after their fans set off fireworks at Old Trafford.
