I’ve got cancer, says U.S. TV star

Actress Rita Wilson – who underwent a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery after her own diagnosis in 2015 – tweeted the star, saying: ‘Thoughts and prayers are with you, Julia. God bless you. Stay strong.’

The actress’s spokesman said: ‘Julia is incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support and well wishes.’

In a statement, broadcaster HBO said: ‘Our love and support go out to Julia and her family at this time. We have every confidence she will get through this with her usual tenacity and undaunted spirit, and look forward to her return to health and to HBO for the final season of Veep.’

Miss Louis-Dreyfus has been married to actor Brad Hall for 20 years.

She starred as Elaine Benes in Seinfeld from 1990 to 1998 and had earlier found fame on American comedy show Saturday Night Live.
