Muslim dad’s hammer attack on daughter’s lover caught in her bed

A MUSLIM father once jailed for rape has been sent to prison for viciously beating his daughter and her boyfriend for having sex in his home. Soruth Ali, who was described in court as very religious, was woken at 5am by noises coming from the bedroom of 17- year- old Fatima. He barged into her room and discovered her in bed with her older lover, James Martin.

Bolton Crown Court heard that the 42-year-old restaurant owner was so incensed, he grabbed a hammer and hit Mr Martin over the head.

He then chased him out of the family home in Leigh, near Convicted rapist: Soruth Ali Manchester, which he shared with his wife and three other children.

Ali then returned to the property and started punching and kicking Fatima, who was curled up on the floor in a ball, before dragging her out of her bedroom concerned, that is a serious offence. She is your daughter and should have been able to regard her own home as a place of safety. What you did was wholly unacceptable.’

The court heard that Fatima had been dating Mr Martin without her parents’ knowledge. On the night of the attack last month, she had sneaked Mr Martin into her home, thinking they were both away. But they returned unexpectedly and Mr Martin decided to hide in Fatima’s bedroom for the night.

The court heard Ali’s wife and another daughter pleaded with him to stop during the assault.

Probation officials said he had shown little empathy for his daughter, or remorse.

In 1995, Ali was convicted of raping a 15-year-old girl dressed in her school uniform. He served seven years in prison.
