Caribbean hols dented

-

TRAVeL firm Tui is predicting growth despite the effect of hurricanes Irma and Maria on its trade in the Caribbean and Florida.

europe’s largest tour operator said summer trading had been strong at most of its hotels and resorts around the world, and there had been good demand for cruises.

It also said trading for future seasons was in line with expectations of 10pc growth in net income.

But the firm said the hurricanes that struck Florida, several Caribbean islands, the US Virgin Islands, the British Virgin Islands and Cuba this month meant many of its hotels had been badly damaged and would need repairing.

Shares in Tui Group were down yesterday by 0.2pc, or 3p, to 1262p.
