Boris just can’t stop rocking the boat
HE’S been sailing in rather choppy political waters recently – and that seemed to continue as he tried to woo European allies yesterday.
Boris Johnson welcomed senior politicians from eight crucial EU allies to Chevening to make the case for Britain’s security role after Brexit.
But he looked a little seasick as he took his counterpart from the Czech Republic Ivo Sramek rowing on the lake at the Foreign Secretary’s grace and favour country residence.
Representatives from Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia were also present.
After Mr Johnson held up the boat for photographers, he then seized control of the oars – passed to him by his wife Marina.
His appearance, on the eve of this week’s major EU summit, comes after weeks of Cabinet infighting triggered by his interventions on Brexit.
