My private jet! Budget f lyer gets a whole plane to herself

- By Tom Witherow

FLYING on a private jet with your own team of cabin crew would normally set you back thousands.

But for one lucky traveller the privilege cost just £46.

Karon Grieve was the only passenger and had all 189 seats to herself on the flight from Glasgow to Crete with budget airline Jet2.

She picked a seat with plenty of leg room, was given personalised commentary from the cockpit and was even told she could run up and down the plane.

The 57-year-old author had been told at check-in that only three travellers had booked on to the four-hour flight.

But after the other two failed to show up she had the entire flight to herself and was given the choice of any seat on the aircraft. During the flight, the pilot addressed her over the intercom by name and pointed out which countries they were flying over.

After touching down she was handed her suitcase straight from the plane’s hold.

Miss Grieve, from Ayrshire, said yesterday: ‘It was just me, the cabin crew and the pilot.

‘They moved me to seat number one so I had all the leg room and everything, it was fantastic.

‘The pilot then came out and chatted to me before take-off and throughout the flight was documenting what we were doing and where we were going. The crew were wandering around and said just to call if I needed anything.

‘I even got a free meal which was great. They said I could run up and down the plane if I wanted, I had all the space to myself.

‘It was so peaceful and I got a lot of work done.’ The mother of one, who is in Crete for a month so she can work on a romantic crime novel, added: ‘I didn’t even have to wait for my luggage, it just got handed to me when I got off the plane. Funnily enough, the same plane going back was booked with 189 passengers heading home.’
