Schizophrenic accused lover of affair with Jimmy Choo – then stabbed her to death

- By Richard Marsden

A UNIVERSITY student who was stabbed to death by her jealous boyfriend kept a chilling diary describing the extent of his paranoia.

Natasha Wild, 23, detailed how Lloyd Brackenbury, 32, mistakenly believed she was unfaithful, and made bizarre accusations including that she was having a fling with fashion designer Jimmy Choo.

She said her partner, who was taking medication for paranoid schizophrenia, would carry out ‘sexual examinations’ on her to check whether she had slept with other men.

‘ Disabled and vulnerable’ Miss Wild, who had cerebral palsy, also told how he threw her across a room during violent rows and constantly picked arguments.

Brackenbury even made sick taunts about her late sister, who was among four close relatives and family friends who were killed in a house fire in 2005, and would keep her awake at night calling her a ‘liar’.

In her diary, Miss Wild wrote: ‘Lloyd believes I am cheating on him with a man called Jimmy Choo who is a fashion designer.

‘He sexually examines me to see if I have slept with someone and if we have had a nice day he will purposely ruin it by finding something to start an argument over.

‘He believes I am seemingly trying to kill him – he thinks I am part of the Mafia. He said he would never hurt me but has picked me up four times and thrown me across the room.’

It also emerged that Miss Wild discovered she was pregnant with Brackenbury’s child but had a secret abortion, telling her mother: ‘Lloyd would kill me if he found out.’

She kept the diary, called ‘What it is like to live with Lloyd’, on her laptop. A court heard it was discovered after she was fatally stabbed in the neck by Brackenbury last November at their home in Rochdale. Brackenbury was cleared of murder but found guilty of manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility at Manchester Crown Court.

Sentencing him to detention in a secure hospital, Judge Patrick Field QC told Brackenbury: ‘This case represents a terrible tragedy for all involved. Natasha herself was disabled and vulnerable.’ Miss Wild was in her third year of a degree at Liverpool Hope University and had been working as a school dinner lady to help fund her studies. She had known Brackenbury, a former forensic science student at Manchester University, since 2009 and they began dating in 2015.

In the months before her death she had been battling to make him take his medication and began confiding in her mother Susan about his behaviour.

Mrs Wild told the court: ‘Their relationship was terrible.

‘One day he would be fine and would seem sweet but I began to notice some strange behaviour so I told Natasha to keep him at arms- length and be friends instead. She knew of his mental issues and he wasn’t taking his medication.’ Mrs Wild said the relationship was taking its toll on Natasha’s health. She lost weight and ‘ wasn’t my daughter any more’. She added: ‘When I saw her at the house of Lloyd’s mother, Natasha had a mark on her torso area and I was horrified. His mother said she wanted her son sectioning and I agreed but they didn’t section him. Natasha was worried if he was sectioned he would blame her.’ Brackenbury’s mother Linda said her son had been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia at 20 and over the years had been admitted to hospital for psychiatric treatment. Judge Field said Brackenbury’s violence was symptomatic of his underlying illness and the emphasis of his sentence must be on ‘treatment and not punishment’.
