Not such a material girl: £440million Madonna on budget f light
SHE may be worth around £440million – but Madonna has proved she is as partial to a bargain as the rest of us.
The singer swapped her usual first class luxury for the slightly less glamorous surroundings of economy on Tuesday, as she flew with Air Portugal from London to Lisbon, where seats start from as little as £42.
Perhaps used to the extra leg room of first class, the star, 59, seemed a little cramped in her window seat. However, she seemed to have got the hang of dressing for comfort, as she was swathed in an over- sized jacket, plus frayed jeans, for the journey on Tuesday.
Madonna is thought to have recently moved to Lisbon after her son David Banda – whom the mother-of-six adopted from Malawi in 2006 – joined the Benfica youth football academy earlier this year.
She has reportedly bought a property in the resort of Sintra, 17 miles from the Portuguese capital, to be nearer to her 12-year-old son.
