Uncork an interest in the world of wine

- SARAH HARRIS

AFTER ten years working in corporate marketing, Jeremy Dunn has returned to his true love — wine.

The 44-year-old former wine trade marketer launched norfolk Wine school in 2016 and now holds up to three workshops and wine tastings a week across the county.

he says: ‘Quite frankly, the wine trade is a great industry to be working in and is very social.’

Jeremy, from norwich, runs tastings costing from £25 as well as corporate and private events, and also offers everyone the chance to study for professional Wine and spirit education Trust (WSET) qualifications.

his eight-week World of Wine courses cost £185 and students taste more than 50 wines from five continents, 15 regions and 15 grape varieties.

They learn about where to buy the best value wines, common wine faults and how to spot them, and how best to serve and store wine.

Jeremy, a married father of three, says: ‘i get a very broad mix of people. They tend to be people who enjoy wine, but don’t know much about it and are curious and they know it’s an interesting subject. it’s that interest in wine that’s the main thing.

‘Above all, the tastings and wine courses are fun, entertaining and set in a relaxed atmosphere and very social.

‘ Guests come by themselves, in couples or in larger groups, and it is also a great way to meet others with the same interest in tasting and learning about wine.’

Jeremy’s business is expanding and he is recruiting another wine tutor. he adds: ‘it’s great to be doing something that you really enjoy.

‘There’s a lot of demand out there for this kind of tuition, especially if you think about the macro trends in consumers buying fewer things and wanting to gain more experiences.

‘Our wine courses are absolutely geared up to deliver that need.

‘A lot of people will come in for an evening and then sign up for a four- week course, then an eight-week course. And after that they say they are ready to learn even more about wine.’

‘if you’re fed up with going to the supermarket and always picking the same bottle of wine each time, i’d highly recommend to come and have a really fun, social evening with us.

‘By the end of it, you will unlock a whole world of wine. You will feel more confident to try new things and will start your wine journey from there.’
