Djokovic stuns Amazon
NOVAK DJOKOVIC, who like rival Andy Murray hasn’t played competitive tennis since last year’s Wimbledon, has pulled the plug on an Amazon Prime documentary about him.
Djokovic’s decision will be a blow to Amazon who invested a lot of time and money in filming Djokovic in 2017 even before his year was blighted by injury and alleged marital problems.
And Djokovic, who, it is assumed, did not want extra scrutiny on him during a difficult period in his life, has called time on Amazon just when he has returned to hitting tennis balls. WORLD champions Anthony Joshua and Lewis Hamilton plus four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome should head the 12-strong short-list for BBC Sports Personality of the Year to be revealed on the One Show on Monday. Boxer Joshua will be favourite as Hamilton, despite being a four-time F1 world champion, has yet to capture the full admiration of the British public. Nor has Froome. Hamilton wasn’t in the SPOTY top three after he won his third title in 2015 and Froome has never been on the podium. RFU councillors last night followed their equally contrary FA blazers by agreeing governance changes, including nine-year term limits and primacy of the RFU management board, that makes them compliant with Sport England code requirements. Only the British Mountaineering Council have yet to buy into the reforms.
