Piers’ bumper GMB salary rise

PIERS Morgan has landed a new, lucrative seven-figure contract after he secretly threatened to quit Good Morning Britain.

ITV executives panicked when Mr Morgan, 52, handed in his notice, citing exhaustion from the 3.45am starts and saying he needed more time off to make documentaries in the US.

But the presenter, pictured, has now signed a new one-year deal, worth about £1.1million – understood to more than doubled his previous salary.

Co-presenter, Susanna Reid, is also set for a hefty salary rise when her contract comes up for renewal next year. News of Mr Morgan’s new contract comes as GMB recorded its highest ever ratings on Monday, with almost 1.2million viewers.
