WHERE THE HARD-LEFT IS MUSCLING IN
MANCHESTER
CARL AUSTIN-BEHAN, the city’s openly gay Lord Mayor, was forced out last month at the selection meeting in Burnage. His replacement, Ben Clay, is a Momentum activist. In Swinton South, councillor Howard Balkind was ditched for Stuart Dickman who works for ultra-Corbynite MP Rebecca Long-Bailey.
LIVERPOOL
SUPPORTERS of Wavertree MP Luciana Berger were purged this summer when Momentum took eight out of ten positions in the constituency Labour Party. Berger, who is Jewish, faced hard Left abuse (much of it anti-Semitic).
WATFORD
LABOUR officials were recently ordered to place Momentum-backed Unite union official Mike Hedges on their shortlist for the Parliamentary candidacy, despite having rejected him at interview days earlier.
SOUTHWARK RK
SAMANTHA JURY-DADA, 23, is close to the Progress group, which campaigns for Labour to adopt moderate Blairite policies. These and other ‘crimes’ against Marxism saw her booted out last month in favour of Jack Buck, who doesn’t live in the ward.
SHEFFIELD
FRIENDS of miner’s son Kieran Harpham say he was deselected in Broomhill ward for being ‘too working class’. He was replaced by Momentum favourite Janet Ridler.
BRIGHTON
COUNCIL leader Warren Morgan’s allies have been targeted for deselection partly because he embarrassed Corbyn by criticising anti-Semitic remarks at the Labour conference. Centrists face a purge after Momentum won nine seats on the Local Campaign Forum.
SEDGEFIELD
IN A highly symbolic putsch, ten of the 11 members of the Constituency Labour Party in Tony Blair’s old seat have been kicked out by 90 Momentum activists. Members now fear that the seat’s MP and councillors may face de-selection.
HULL
VETERAN Labour activist Terry Geraghty, 80, has been sacked as a candidate in Orchard Park and Greenwood. He blames a ‘vendetta’ by Leftists. His replacement is Gary Wareing, a hard-Left train driver.
BIRMINGHAM
FOUR serving councillors are out so far — replaced by hard-Left candidates last month. The four include assistant council leader Tony Kennedy, smeared by an online hate campaign.
HARINGEY
AT LEAST 17 Labour councillors, including several from ethnic minorities, have quit or been deselected in favour of (largely) white, middle-class Momentum hardliners.
HASTINGS & RYE
ELEVEN councillors are going, including at least four senior party servants forced out in recent days by Left-wingers. Their replacements include a Momentum ‘Peace Campaigner’ called Maya Evans who was arrested at a Stop The War protest at the Cenotaph in 2005.
LEWISHAM
ROY KENNEDY, 55, who sits in Parliament as Lord Kennedy of Southwark, has been a Labour councillor for more than three decades. But, having been ennobled and with links to the moderate Fabian group, he’s disliked by Momentum who won a ‘trigger’ vote, meaning he faces a hostile re-election.
