Sportsmail, will miss out on the Lions matches against West Indies in the new year. An ecB spokesman said his absence was a consequence of the incident that heaped more problems on the tourists. But there are Lions places for fast bowlers Josh tongue of Worcestershire and tom Helm of Middlesex, identified on this page as prospects who could bring muchneeded pace to england.

Ben Foakes and Mason crane, both members of the Ashes squad, are included but will be withdrawn if they are selected for england’s full tour of new Zealand in February, while Haseeb Hameed, Jamie Porter and toby Roland- Jones return after various injuries.
