WHAT HAS HE GOT?

-

ON Wednesday against Manchester United, Flint (below) took his chance to showcase his ability. I have been watching him for a while and was not surprised. Centre halves are like fine wine in that they get better with age. Several seasons ago a friend suggested I take a look at a gangly pivot who had just left non-League Alfreton Town for Swindon and had been called up for an England non-League XI. I was not impressed. He wasn’t mobile enough and was too raw. Now, that same player has taken the Championship in his stride after his move to Bristol City. His leadership qualities at the back are highly valued and his boss Lee Johnson has already staved off enquiries for his services. Now, I see a mature player with a knowledge of the higher demands of the game. He has improved every year and his qualities include consistency, rarely missing a game and impressing with strong defensive qualities. He has the ability to repel the high ball down the middle comfortably as he towers above opponents.
