Working hard, Donald? Trump’s 38 days playing golf

- From Daniel Bates in New York

DONALD Trump has spent nearly a third of his presidency at his own properties – including at least 38 days playing golf, it is claimed.

The US President has been at a Trumpbranded property on more than 100 days since his inauguration on January 20.

He is set to become the President who has spent the most time on the golf course in history. In his roughly 340 days in charge he has had 38 days at his course in Bedminster, New Jersey, and nearly 40 days at Mar-a-Lago, his Florida estate, where he spent his Christmas break.

Mr Trump went to his private golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, yesterday after having Christmas with his family.

The President’s continued passion for golf goes against claims he made during his presidential campaign.

In August last year, he said: ‘I’m going to be working for you. I’m not going to have time to go play golf.’ He also used to castigate President Obama for playing golf so often. Mr Trump does not play a round of golf every time he visits one of his clubs.

But according to one website, by the end of his first term he will have visited his golf clubs on 339 days – more than Mr Obama managed during eight years in office.

The estimate for Mr Trump actually playing golf on 38 days came from trackers at website Trumpgolfcount.com.
