PROBLEM: Thin brows

SOLUTION: Super-soft shading

RoSe RobeRtSon, 68, works in a shop. Married to Darroll, 71, who is retired, they live in London and have one grown-up daughter.

SHE SAYS: I don’t wear any make-up at all any more — I gave up about 15 years ago. I just didn’t feel the need. I’m so busy working and helping out at my local church at weekends, I can’t be bothered with the hassle. I cleanse and tone my face and wear moisturiser at night, but that’s it.

Back in the Seventies and Eighties, I used to love make-up — lots of mascara and then eyeshadow to match whatever I was wearing, finished off with a bit of blusher. I miss looking striking, and I enjoyed having my make-up done for this shoot, while my husband Darroll was amazed by my look. He couldn’t believe how glamorous I was! I’ll definitely have a go at doing it myself for our church choir’s party this week. AMANDA SAYS: Rose has lovely green eyes, but she should make more of them. Filling in her sparse brows with Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Saddle (£19, bobbibrown.co.uk), made an enormous difference, restoring the frame around her eyes. I then covered her entire eye with a subtle Inglot Intense Sparkler (£15, inglotuk.com) and used a little Delilah Colour Intense Eyeshadow in Mulberry and Delilah Slim Line Liquid Eyeliner (£20 and £24, spacenk.com) along the lids — the mulberry purple really made her green eyes pop A set of natural-looking false eyelashes (Ardell in Faux Mink, £7.99, boots.com) gave her eyes a more feminine appearance.
