Spurs to smash their wage ceiling for Kane

- By KIERAN GILL

From Back Page last week, and there is an acceptance Kane’s deal no longer reflects his standing in the game. The 24-year-old is already Spurs’ top earner, having signed a new contract tying him until 2022 in December 2016. He also has a good bonus structure, but the striker’s weekly wage is considerably less than many England players. Sterling’s City teammate Kyle Walker’s basic weekly salary is around £130,000 while Daniel Sturridge commands £150,000 at Liverpool. Kane’s £110,000 a week puts him on a par with the likes of Ashley Young at Manchester United, but his earnings are modest compared to the league’s best paid players, Paul Pogba (£290,000) and Romelu Cashing in: Harry Kane is set for a massive rise Lukaku (£250,000). Spurs have a history of rewarding their stars with regular pay rises based on performances, but Kane’s astonishing 56-goal haul in 2017 — and interest from mega-rich clubs like Real Madrid — will force the club to break their stringent wage structure and pay him around £200,000 a week.

TOTTENHAM will make Harry Kane the highest paid English star in the Premier League. With Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling the best paid English player on £180,000 a week, Spurs face splashing out up to £200,000 a week to keep their striker. Kane’s £110,000-aweek basic salary ranks him only equal 35th in the list of the League’s highest earning stars, as Sportsmail revealed
