Pale, male and stale
IN HER Cabinet reshuffle, it’s been suggested that Theresa May is weeding out the ‘pale, male and stale’ political talent from the Tory front line so there won’t be as many white, over-50s men.
If the reference had been to to ‘pale, female and stale’, it would have pounced upon by the politically correct as racist, sexist and ageist. But the fact that it was an insulting swipe at white men of a certain age means it is perfectly acceptable.
For black and Asian and female political talent to take precedence ahead of ability, experience and suitability is a recipe for disaster.
So- called positive discrimination means even the most exceptional talent can be ignored on the grounds of ethnicity, age and gender. TONY EDWARDS, Ockham, Surrey.
