Make-up free Dame Helen enjoys lunar larks in LA

DAME Helen Mirren, who is handed a fortune by L’Oreal to promote the cosmetics giant’s products, caused a furore last year when she admitted that her moisturiser ‘probably does f*** all, but it just makes me feel better’.

Now, she has proved that she’s happy to pose without any makeup at all.

Sharing a selfie from a balcony in California, the 72-year-old Oscar winner was barely recognisable as the same woman who had posed for publicity shots earlier this week for her new movie Winchester, inset left.

In the film she plays Sarah Winchester, the cursed heiress of the U.S. rifle company, haunted by the spirits of those killed with the guns made by her late husband.

Smiling as she stood in front of the night sky, Mirren joked: ‘I hold the super red blue moon over Los Angeles.’
