Vodafone’s BT threat

VODAFONE added record numbers of broadband customers as it ramped up its challenge to BT.

The FTSE 100 firm added 39,000 households in the UK in the three months to December 31, taking it to 316,000. It comes just after it said it would roll out cutting-edge fibre optic broadband to 5m premises.

The company is focusing on Britain to fight rivals BT and Sky. Vodafone’s boss Vittorio Colao said that he was responding to BT’s price cuts.
