WEST HAM GENEROUS TO A FAULT
WITH Leroy Fer and Wilfried Bony out for the rest of the season, Swansea’s chances of staying up have taken a considerable blow. It could have been far worse, however, had West Ham not sold Andre Ayew to them in the January transfer window. The £18m ensured West Ham made a tidy profit in the sales, but the wisdom in solving the problem of a relegation rival is debatable. Maybe West Ham do not believe they are threatened by the drop: with one win in eight matches since January 2 and three points separating them and Swansea — or 19th placed Huddersfield — however, some would beg to differ. Stoke, for instance, who refused to sell Joe Allen to West Ham for the same reason Ayew shouldn’t have gone to Swansea.
