£360m sale of top US paper ...to a doctor

THE richest doctor in the US has bought one of America’s most influential newspapers in a £360million deal.

Billionaire surgeon and biotech investor Dr Patrick SoonShiong’s purchase of the Los Angeles Times and its San Diego sister paper is the latest example of a tycoon snapping up a top media title.

His deal with the papers’ Chicago owners comes after Amazon boss Jeff Bezos paid £180million for The Washington Post and Boston Red Sox owner John Henry £50million for The Boston Globe.
