BEN and Clare are proud parents who think their family is so adorable that they are constantly uploading pictures and videos of family life on social media. They get smug about all the positive responses, basking in the approval of strangers. But when Ben starts to film his family secretly for his personal archive, matters take a turn for the sinister. Adam Nagatis and Christine Bottomley (pictured) star in Kellie Smith’s psychological thriller THE ARCHIVIST (RADIO 4, 2.15PM).

PEOPLE have been living on the island of Gigha since prehistoric times; the name possibly comes from the Old Norse for God’s Island. The population went into a serious decline at the beginning of the 20th century, and the islanders now number fewer than

200 — but in 2002, the community was able to come together to buy the island for themselves. The writer Ian Marchant has long harboured a dream

to live on Gigha, and OPEN COUNTRY (RADIO 4, 3PM) follows him to the Inner Hebrides as he investigates whether this Scottish island might be the place for him.

JOHN FINNEMORE’S SOUVENIR PROGRAMME

(RADIO 4, 6.30PM), from the inspired writer of Cabin Pressure and Double Acts, comes to an end with a sketch about adopting animals, plus a rousing land shanty for office workers.
