BRITISH SPRINTER LEVINE FACES DOPING CHARGE

- RIATH AL-SAMARRAI

BRITISH sprinter Nigel Levine faces an uncertain future after being charged with a doping offence.

Sportsmail revealed in December that the double European gold medallist and three-time world medallist (below) had tested positive for the banned substance clenbuterol. UK Athletics have now confirmed he has been charged with an anti-doping rule violation and UK Anti-Doping have issued a provisional suspension. Levine’s UK Sport funding has been frozen. The 28-year-old, who was involved in a serious motorcycle accident last year, will have the right to a hearing but if he is unsuccessful, or opts against challenging the charge, he faces upwards of a two-year ban.
