TRAINS

Paddington shut for almost three hours halting Great Western Railway, Heathrow Express and Heathrow Connect services. Cancellati­ons and delays continued for most of the day

c2c – alteration­s and no services starting at Leigh-on-Sea or Laindon

Caledonian Sleeper – all services cancelled

East Midlands Trains – hourly service between St Pancras and Sheffield. Other routes cancelled

Greater Anglia and Stansted Express – various routes suspended

Heathrow Express – hourly services

Hull Trains – passengers going to Kings Cross urged not to travel with only limited service from Hull to Doncaster

Northern – only travel if necessary

ScotRail – limited services

Southeaste­rn, Southern, Thameslink and Gatwick Express – amended timetable

South Western Railway – services to Hampton Court, Chessingto­n South and Dorking not running

TfL Rail – some cancellati­ons

TransPenni­ne Express – no trains from Preston to Glasgow or Edinburgh with other services also disrupted

Virgin Trains West Coast – unable to run to Scotland

Virgin Trains East Coast – no services north of Newcastle and passengers advised not to travel until tomorrow

ROADS ENGLAND

The A43 was closed in both directions between the A343 in Highclere and the A303 in Bullington, following a serious collision

M66 northbound between junctions one and two gridlocked for most of the day after 16-vehicle pile-up

Snow blocked A66 eastbound between A685 and junction with the A1

Similar delays on the A1 southbound and northbound, as well as the M66 southbound exit slip at junction J4

Part of A3 Hindhead tunnel northbound closed due to overturned lorry
