Surgeon with gold card at groomers’ sex parties, jury told

- By Chris Brooke

A PAKISTANI gang sexu- ally exploited a teenage girl, including trying to force her to sleep with a surgeon with a gold card, a court heard yesterday. Ten men are accused of plying the girl with drink and drugs in return for sex during a threeyear ordeal.

Now 24, the woman said she reported the abuse, which she claims started when she was 14 and living in a children’s home, to police when she was a teenager. But she says action was only taken when her fiance contacted the BBC after watching a report on the Rotherham child abuse scandal. The woman told the court she would be taken to a house in Bradford where as many as 50 people could be present.

Men would drive from Birmingham, Rotherham, Oldham and London, Bradford Crown Court heard.

The woman said one gang member Saeed Akhtar, 54, told her: ‘Get more girls because my friends are coming up and I don’t want my friends thinking I can’t get girls.’

She added that he was ‘trying to pimp me out’. The court heard another defendant, Izar Hussain, 31, nicknamed Billy Jo Jo, arranged for the teenager to have sex with a wealthy surgeon who travelled to Yorkshire from London.

‘There was a surgeon from far away, who had a gold card with a £10,000 limit. The doctor used to come up and give Billy Jo Jo the card for him to buy himself designer clothes,’ she told the jury. He would try to get girls to sleep with the doctor for £500. The doctor was 50 and really creepy.’

Hussain is accused of getting violent when she refused to sleep with the surgeon. She said he would say: ‘I want sex now. You wouldn’t f*** the doctor, you can at least f*** me.’

The court heard 50 men were at the house at one point for the Eid festival celebrated by Muslims.

She said her drinks were often spiked and she was ‘brainwashed’ into believing the abuse was normal. She also became addicted to cocaine. Ten defendants face a total of 20 counts relating to abuse of the teenager between 2008 and 2011.

The woman said she and another 14-year-old would be picked up by Basharat Khaliq, 37, outside the children’s home at midnight.

He would buy alcohol and take them to a hotel, where he shared a bed with them and indecently assaulted them, the court heard. She said he knew they were only 14.

The court heard he later bragged: ‘They were mine, I found them.’ The gang would buy in large quantities of cocaine, the jury was told.

Earlier it was claimed she took 22 lines of cocaine in a single night.

The woman said: ‘I got passed on. Each one would pretend to be going out with me and have sex a couple of times, and then it would be another one.’ She claimed social services files on her dated back to 2008 but the authorities did nothing.

‘It referenced being groomed and going out with older males in cars and the police and social services doing nothing about it throughout my files,’ she said.

Rules at her children’s home meant the doors were locked at 10pm and residents not in by midnight would be reported missing.

‘They used to let us go out. There were rules, but they never stuck to them. Staff knew the girls were having sex with older men,’ she said.

At 14 she was found by police in a man’s car. ‘We were reported missing by the care home. Police took us back to the home. That was the time the police called me a prostitute and let the guy go,’ she said.

She added that the men made her feel wanted and she thought sex and violence ‘came with the package’. Khaliq denies rape and sexual assault. Saeed Akhtar denies rape and causing or inciting child prostitution. Hussain denies rape and attempted rape.

Naveed Akhtar, 42, Mohammed Usman, 30, Kieran Harris, 27, Parvaze Ahmed, 35, and Yasar Majid, 36, all deny rape. Fahim Iqbal, 26, denies aiding and abetting rape. Zeeshan Ali, 21, denies sexual assault. The trial continues.
