Former MP to lead watchdog
A TOP Tory famous for his grilling of City bosses is taking over Britain’s competition watchdog.
Former MP Andrew Tyrie, head of the Treasury Select Committee for seven years, is the next chairman of the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), replacing replace Lord Currie. Tyrie is well respected in the City and is seen as a tough but fair operator.
He chaired a Parliamentary commission on banking standards, and criticised the CMA in 2016 for doing too little to boost competition.
