RUBY BACKING SISTER TO STAR IF IT STAYS WET

- MARCUS TOWNEND

RUBY WALSH says the odds of his sister Katie’s Grand National mount Baie Des Iles are too short but that her chances cannot be discounted with more rain set to fall. Baie Des Iles was a 50-1 shot on Monday but the grey mare has been backed into 14-1 with some bookmakers. Walsh, a dual National winner sidelined after aggravating his broken right leg in a fall at Cheltenham, said: ‘There is no value in her odds now, but she has run well in a couple of Grand National trials and Katie has plenty of experience around the track. ‘It would be a fairytale result and sometimes fairytales come true. There is rain forecast and the more that falls, the better chance Baie Des Iles has. ‘The ground is huge in the National. It can become a different race.’ Walsh would have been riding Willie Mullins-trained Total Recall. He added: ‘I’d love to be on Total Recall. He fits the bill.’ Gold Present was the only withdrawal yesterday which gives a run to Road To Riches.
